6. Definition of the variance of X: sigma^2 = E(X - E(x))^2, to be more precise. Please use this definition when doing your calculations.
5. Reading assignments: We are finishing Ch. 15 in the textbook. Next we will do Chapters 16 and much of 17.
4. Keeping track of SAS datasets: within the SAS program, run the statements
Proc datasets lib = work ; quit ; A description of your SAS datasets will be written to the log window. Thanks to Mark, one of our distance students.
3. Office hours on Wed., August 31, will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 (instead of the usual 12:00 - 1:00).
2. Notes have been posted in the file called (surprise!) Lecture Notes. I will be out of town during the first week of classes, but Prof. Koehler will teach in my place during that week.
